Team 1280 hails from San Ramon Valley High School, in Danville California. Our team has a diverse group of students with many different talents. Our mentors and veteran students are highly skilled in their area of expertise and constantly pass on their experience to students throughout the year. Students simply do what interests them; no student is bound to a single facet of the program.

Mentors
Chris Van Wolbeck
Instructor
Chris Van Wolbeck is our instructor, and a highly respected figure. He works hard, keeping the shop open into the night and on weekends so we, the students, can come in to work. His two dogs, Buzz and Penny, are regular visitors to our shop on the weekends.
Robin Fall
Mentor
Robin Fall is a permanent fixture in our shop on or off-season. His red Suburban is the preferred mode of transportation for the donuts and coffee he brings in for the team. Mr. Fall has gained a wide breadth of experience working with the team over the years, and is easily approachable.
Dr. Eugene Brooks
Mentor
Dr. Eugene Brooks is a brilliant man with a characteristic sense of humor. Eugene has a habit of leaving us dumbfounded with his vast knowledge of physics, calculus and all things obscure. Eugene has gained a reputation for his fondness of karma and gravity, and he isn't afraid to remind us of it!

Chad Cochran
Mentor
Mr. Cochran is no ordinary video teacher; he has an infatuation for nifty gadgetry and comes up with the wackiest ideas to decorate our pit area and robot with. His crazy antics keep the team cheery and motivated.
David Newell
Mentor / Alumni
David Newell is a former student turned mentor. He helps us out with our design process, and helps us fabricate parts for the robot. He arrives in a crisp blue work uniform every night, and is a lively character to have around.
Blake Nelson
Mentor / Alumni
Blake Nelson is another returning student our team is thankful to have around. He plans out our robot in detail with his CAD skills and keeps us on our toes with his various shenanigans.
Scott Jang
Mentor / Alumni
Scott Jang is a lovable ex-student who comes back to help us out. He has a talent for arriving just in time to mooch off our dinner, but makes up for it with his past experience in the program.

Buczek is really funny and a genius when it comes to chemistry!!!

Calvao has an interesting sense of humor, and loves to work on cars.
